Első teljes és kipihent napunkat császkálással töltöttük el.
We spent our first full and rested day by wandering around our area.
Reggel | Morning
Késői keléssel indítottunk, majdnem 12 órát sikerült aludnunk az út után. Első uticélunk SIM kártya és internet szerzés volt, mivel anélkül elég nehéz lenne tájékozódni és fordítani egész hónapon át.
Besétálva egy China Unicom boltba sikerült elmutogatni és lerajzolni hogy hány SIM és milyen csomag kell nekünk. Miután kifizettük az eladónő telefonálgatott párat, majd rámutatva a telefonjára az volt lefordítva neki hogy: “You follow me”, azaz “Kövess”.
Kint az utcán bérelt nekünk helyi bicikliket (amelyekkel tele van az utca) és jelzett hogy menjünk utána. 5 perc bringázás után megérkeztünk az ügyfélszolgálati központba ahol beregisztrálták az útlevelünk adatait, lefotóztak és végül aktiválták a SIM kártyákat. Nem volt egyszerű, de végül minden rendbe lett, és még vissza is vitt eredeti helyünkre.
After sleeping 12 hours straight we headed out with a late start. Our first errand was finding a SIM card with a data plan, since it would be quite crucial for navigation and translation during our one month travel.
We found a China Unicom store nearby and managed to explain how many SIM cards and how large data plans we need using our Activity skills. After paying the store clerk made a few calls and finally pointed to her phone which had the following words translated: “You follow me”.
Outside on the street she rented us bikes (which are littered all over) and waved for us to follow. About 5 minutes later we ended up at their main customer service office where they were able to register our SIM only after taking down our Passport details and a photo of us. It wasn’t easy, but in the end it all turned out good. She even rented us bikes and showed us the way back.
Jingshan park
A sikeres küldetést teljesítve az egyik közeli park felé vettük az irányt. Mivel a Jingshan park régen a Tiltott Város része volt, a falait követve jutottunk el a bejáratig. Az úton odafele megállított minket egy fehér-embert-nem-látott kínai turista és fotózkodott velünk.
After accomplishing our mission we headed to a nearby park. Since the Jingshan park was once part of the Forbidden Palace we followed it’s walls to get to the park entrance. On the way there we were stopped by a Chinese tourist to take some pictures with us foreign white people. You could almost say we were stars.
Megmászva a 45.7m magas mesterséges dombot a Tiltott Város bukkant elő a szmogból, minden pompájában. A kis ösvényeken felfele sétálgatva láttunk pagodákat és szentélyeket is.
Climbing atop the 45.7m artificial hill the Forbidden City peeked out from under all the smog, in all it’s glory. On the small winding paths up we also saw many pagodas and shrines.
Qiongdao sziget és Beihai park | Qiongdao Island and Beihai park
A parkokhoz kedvet kapva áttértünk a szomszédos Beihai parkba aminek a taván pagodával és egy sztúpával díszített sziget volt. Ezeket így szép sorjába végig jártuk majd pihenésképp befizettünk egy fél órás csónakázásra a vizililliomok között. A csónakázást tovább színezte hogy a 3 nő utitársunkból 2 végig szelfizték az utat, míg a harmadik “csak” a gyerekét fotózta :)
Sticking to parks we continued with the nearby Beihai park which has an island decorated with pagodas and a stupa in the center. After checking all of them out we rested on a half hour long boat cruise by the water lilies around the island. The boat ride was further entertaining due to 2 out of the 3 woman on the boat were training for the Selfie Olympics while the 3rd one just kept taking pictures of her child.
Vacsora | Dinner
A sok séta után megéhezve felpatantunk egy helyi buszra és elnavigáltunk az APM bevásárlókközpontba. Ott a “The Grandma’s” étterembe vacsiztunk, ami Ricsi és Panka által készített Kis Pekingi Utikalauzban (ezt is kaptuk tőlük nászajándékba) az egyik ajánlás volt. A kaja nagyon finom volt, még Petra is evett mindenből!
After the long walk we were starved so we hopped on a local bus that took us to the APM mall. There we ate at The Grandma’s restaurant, which was one of the recommendations we received in Richard and Panka’s wedding gift: The Small Beijing Guide. The food was very good, even Petra ate from each dish!
Utcai piac | Street market
A közelben megtaláltuk a Wangfujing utcai piacot, ahol mindenféle érdekeset árultak mint például sült skorpiót, angolnát, és elég sok felismerhetetlen furcsaságot. Sajnos pont vacsi után nem voltunk túl éhesek ezért nem próbáltunk ki semmit.
Nearby we found the Wangfujing snack street market where they sold all kinds of interesting snacks, such as fried scorpions, eels, and many other unrecognizable delicacies. Unfortunately we just ate dinner therefore we didn’t try out anything.
