A második napunkon Xi’an-ban a helyi történelmi múzeumot és a Nagy Vadliba Pagodát néztük meg.
On the second day in Xi’an we visited the History Museum and climbed the Great Wild Goose Pagoda.
Shaanxi történelmi múzeum | Shaanxi History Museum
A múzeumban vannak kiállítva egy itteni Lantian ősember maradványai, de leginkább az ókori kínai kultúrára összpontosít. A különböző dinasztiák kincseit tudtuk megnézni, már ahol hozzáfértünk, ugyanis mivel a múzeum ingyenes, nagyon sokan vannak. Rengeteg kis szobrocska, érme, ékszer és edény van üveg mögé téve, amit a helyiek lelkesen fotóztak.
One of the first exhibits in the history museum is a Lantian Man’s fossils which was very interesting given that it was around half a million years old. Other than that the museum was centered around the ancient Chinese culture. We could view the treasures and artifacts of many different dynasties, wherever we could get close enough since the museum is free and there were many people.
Nagy Vadliba Pagoda | Great Wild Goose Pagoda
A történelem óra után elsétáltunk a Nagy Vadliba Pagodához, amit a buddhista tanítások tárolására építettek. Az építmény 64m magas és 7 emeletből áll, amit természetesen megmásztunk a meleg ellenére. A pagoda mellett kis épületekben nagyon szép buddhista művészeti alkotásokat lehett látni: volt egy jade és egyéb féldrága/drágakövekből kirakott fal, ami a Buddha életszakaszait mutatta, illetve egy másik teremben hasonló vallási motívumok csak fából faragva.
After the history lesson we walked to the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, which was build to house buddhist scrolls. The building is 64 meters high and is 7 stories tall, which regardless of the heat, we naturally climbed to the top. Next to the pagoda there were many smaller buddhist shrines with exquisite artistry. There was a room in which all walls were lined with precious stones such as jade and the life of Buddha was depicted.

A pagoda tetejéről realizáltuk, hogy mekkora város Xi’an és amúgy is mekkora városok vannak kínában. Az alábbi 4 kép a négy égtáj felé fotóztuk, tippelj hogy melyik a belváros :) (válasz alattuk)
At the top of the pagoda we realized how huge Xi’an is and just generally cities in China. The 4 pictures below were shot in the four cardinal directions, take a guess which way is the city center :) (answer below)

Mi kicsit elbizonytaladtunk amikor a külváros felé néztünk, mivel amerre csak látni lehetett, torony épületek álltak. A belváros amúgy északra van és először délre néztünk ki. Ezt alátámasztja az a tény is hogy Xi’an-ban szinte pontosan ugyanannyian laknak mint Londonban: ~13.5 millió lakóssal nem kicsi város, de annál kevésbé ismert.
We were a bit unsure when we first looked out away from the city, wherever the eye saw there were tall buildings. The inner city is north and we first looked out towards south. This is also supported by the fact that Xi’an is almost exactly as large as London in terms of population. With its ~13.5 million inhabitants it’s definitely not a small city, but much less known.
Xi’an városfal | Xi’an City Wall
Mivel a régi városfal ma is nagyon jó állapotban van, este felmentünk rá sétálni egy kicsit. Maga a fal az egyik legnagyobb, amit a világon építettek, 12m magas, az alján 18m, a tetején 15m széles és 13.7km hosszan veszi körbe a régi városrészt. Napközben lehet rajta biciklizni, este meg szépen ki van világítva. Ezzel méltó búcsút vettük a várostól, mivel másnap mentünk tovább Chengduba.
Since the ancient city walls are still in great condition today, we went for a night time stroll on top of it. The wall itself is one of the largest walls in the world, it’s 12 meters high, 18 meters and 15 meters wide at the base and the top respectively and runs for 13.7 kilometers around the city center. During the daytime you can ride a bike around the wall and during the night it’s beautifully lit up. With this we said our final goodbyes to the city as on the next day we would be heading to Chengdu.
